After a long time, this year, from 18 to 23 June, Venice will again host a nautical fair of global importance, involving local, national and international companies. The objective, even if not directly stated, is to establish itself as the third Made in Italy event with regard to boating , making the right attention in the sector to the city of Venice. Could we not talk about it?
The exhibition site of the new Venice Boat Show will be located at the Arsenal of Venice, a position that already sends a strong message since these were the symbol of might and military power of the Republic of Venice as well as the heart of its naval industry. At the disposal of the event there will therefore be a water basin of 50,000 square meters and a set of pavilions equal to a total of 6000 meters.
However, there is no will to compete with the other big Made In Italy international shows, that is the Genoa Boat Show and the Versilia Yachting Rendezvous, as to give importance to a place that, at the moment, is a bit abandoned to itself. Citing the words of Luigi Brugnaro, mayor of Venice: "Our Show is aimed at a pool of users that has its center of gravity shifted towards the east, towards customers who very often do not reach the others European exhibitions. It is an important occasion for all Italian leisure boating and I say this by emphasizing that we do not want to compete with any other show (...)" A choice confirmed also by the decision to organize the show in a series of dates well distant from any other Made In Italy nautical event of international importance.
The numbers of the Venice Boat Show are definitely up to the biggest events of this type. About 50 yachts, between 15 and 50 meters in length, will be exhibited in the Darsena Grande while, on the ground, it will be possible to find more than 100 exhibitors among accessories, boating services and other leisure craft. Being the Ferretti Group directly involved in the organization of the event, it is not surprising that these will be present with a huge fleet, composed of yachts between 12 and 37 meters, between which will above all shine the new flagship, the Riva 50 meters in steel.
Monte Carlo Yachts has also confirmed its presence with a range of motoryachts designed by the famous Nuvolari Lenard studio. In the same way, the Cranchi Shipyard will also participate and It confirmed the presence of two of its best sellers: the E52S and the M44HT. There will also be sailing boats, with Neo Yachts & Composites that will take the Neo 350 to the quay, and absolute novelties, with the Unlimited C53 catamaran wanted by Gian Paolo Pellizza and The Fifty of the debut brand Eleva Yachts. Lastly, the space dedicated to hybrid and electric boats is worth noting, which will also be attended by two builders from Northern Europe: the Swedes XShore and the Finns Q-Yachts.
If the exhibition part of the Venice Boat Show promises to leave visitors speechless, the proposed cultural offer is no less interesting. Among conventions, events and installations, there will be many side events that will take place both in the rooms and in the spaces of the Arsenal and in the rest of the city of Venice. Among the artistic/cultural installations present must certainly be mentioned the Building Bridges of the Italian-American Lorenzo Quinn which consists of 12 gigantic intertwined hands that will overshadow the small dry dock.
The eye, then, cannot fail to fall on the submarine Enrico Dandolo, a relic of the Second World War, now located on one of the two slipways and launching points facing the Darsena Grande. The vehicle will be completely open to visitors for the duration of the event. To the guided tours and art exhibitions, a dense calendar of prestigious conferences is added, like the one dedicated to nautical design of Wednesday 19 June (to which will participate Carlo Nuvolari in person). Attention to the design phase of the nautical industry is evident and is further confirmed by the presence of the "Venice Boat Show: International Call for Boat Projects Selection" competition, organized by the Venice Civic Museums Foundation in collaboration with the Municipality of Venice and Vela spa. The selected works will be exhibited inside the Tesa 113 of the Arsenal, where a series of cultural activities, linked to the nautical design, will be held .
That of the Venice Boat Show is an important bet that aims to restore luster to an area of ??Made In Italy which, in recent years, had passed a little in the background. Quoting again the words of Mayor Burgnaro: "The Boat Show has already been funded for the next three years. We must believe in it and make the maximum possible contribution to its success because it represents an opportunity for the future of the new generations. (...) I believe that it is a duty for the country to have the idea that Venice can give a future of life, work and prosperity to the whole Adriatic." The appointment is therefore scheduled from 18 to June 23, 2019, in the historic Venice Arsenal.
