ANODE OF THE WEEK 11
Autoprop H5 propeller anode
When we talk about sacrificial anodes we think more easily to motor boats rather than sailing boats, even though the latter too need to be protected properly.
The anode we are talking about today is the most interesting piece among those that can be applied to a saildrive propeller (recognizable in the catalog thanks to the appropriate symbol): the Autoprop H5 propeller anode.
The runton's Propeller Autoprop represents excellence in automatic variable pitch propellers.
Their main feature is all in the special design of the blades that can rotate freely of 360° on their axis. In this way the propeller adapts its pitch to varying the number of engine revolutions and the flow of water while the hydrodynamic variables (remember?) and the centrifugal force set the correct position of the blades.
The autoprop propellers have been tested many times both in port and at sea, both with sailing and in combined motor-sail navigation. You can find one of these tests here.
In general, all the tests agree that the autoprop propellers are reliable and allow a significant reduction of consumption, both in terms of fuel and wear as well as navigation autonomy. A perfect propeller for long and/or pleasure cruises.
The ogive created by Tecnoseal is perfectly suited to the H5 autoprop, but can also be installed on H5BB and APS propellers. It is also available, with different sizes, for H6 autoprop propellers.
