Tecnoseal at the 2018 SeaWork International
The 2018 edition of the SeaWork International will start in less than a week. This is an unique event for sector's buyers which provides direct contact with the relevant markets. It is one of the largest commercial boat shows in Europe, whose 21st edition will be held from July, 3 to 5 in the historic and prestigious venue of Mayflower Park in Southampton, SO14 2AQ, in the United Kingdom.
The event will cover the entire Mayflower Park and will include more than 18,000 square meters of covered spaces distributed over two exhibition halls set up for the occasion. To these are added the spaces used for numerous technical conferences and business meetings, as well as the wide open spaces reserved for demonstrations, both on land and on water.
The pontoons, symbol and pride of SeaWork International, are back again also this year. These floating walkways created specifically for the fair will host an exhibition of more than 70 boats, to which will also be added other special floating objects that will be exhibited for the occasion. To better visit the whole area will be organized for thematic trails and pavilions, highlighted on the outside by special logos printed directly on the exhibitor fascia boards.
One of the main innovations this year, the Superyacht Build, Refit and Repair Trail, will take place right on the pontoons. While never losing sight of the commercial marina, the thematic focus of the fair, in past editions the SeaWork International has always been committed to providing businesses and individuals with access to new innovations capable of expanding their reach and develop international supply chain opportunities. On the other hand, superyachts often share the needs of design, propulsion and support typical of commercial ships and require similar skills from professionals in the sector. Alongside the new path will be the Composites Pavilion where many of the most sophisticated materials and techniques used to build large ships will be presented. Yet another demonstration of the overlap between the commercial and superyacht sectors.
All paths and areas of past editions are also reconfirmed. We therefore have the Maritime Training & Skills Trail that allows you to explore the training, apprenticeship, employment and educational opportunities of the commercial nautical sector. The DireWork, a showcase reserved for the commercial underwater industry of any kind. The Marine Renewable Trail that brings together all the nautical organizations involved in the renewable energy sector. The Maritime Security Pavilion supported by ADS and reserved to companies that provide products and services to military, police, port authorities and other defense personnel. The RIBWork, showcase for designers, builders and operators in the RIB sector and to all those connected to this particular market. Lastly, the Shipyard Pavilion, revitalized this year by working with the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI), trade association for the maritime sector in the United Kingdom.
Another notable new entry is the double Speed@Seawork event which will take place on Monday July, 2 and Tuesday 3, in parallel with the actual fair. The focus of this event will be fast ships operating at high speed for safety interventions and Search & Rescue operations, a significant specialized sector of commercial boating. Speed@Seawork is aimed at facilitating the growth and development of the design, construction and operation of these specialized vessels offering new and old exhibitors a great opportunity to put themselves at the service of this dynamic and constantly growing market.
The first day of Monday will be engaged by the sea trials that will take place in Cowes, IOW. Exhibitors, delegates and speakers will be able to observe everything from the Ocean Scene that will be set up for the occasion with a deck dedicated to the sector companies and with an exhibition hall reserved for experts and influencers who will focus on practice, people and procurement. The second day will instead take place the homonymous conference Speed@Seawork, among the topics dealt with: the design of the hulls, propulsion, navigation, the communication systems, the biomechanics and the welfare of the crew.
But SeaWork International is not just an exhibition and a show on the water, but also a packed program of conferences that cover every corner of the commercial nautical sector. Worth noting: the one reserved for the Maritime Apprenticeships on July 4th; those on multi-use platforms at sea (MUPS), on the "soon to be expired" contracts of Marine Services (MS) and Range Safety and Aircrew Training (RSACT) and the Small Craft Surveyors Forum scheduled for July 5; the MOD Procurement Program of 2018 scheduled for July 6th.
Two conferences are however to be reported. They will occupy the entire day of July 4 and will touch two of the hottest topics in the nautical sector in recent days: the Unmanned Surface Vessels and the Hybrid Propulsion. These are two rapidly expanding innovations that are being imposed on the market in a decisive way and which promise to change it deeply forever. You can find the entire conference program at the following link: here.
The European Commercial Marine Awards (ECMAs) are also coming back. They are recognitions reserved for industry innovations that attract participants from all over Europe. To the three traditional awards, Maritime Professional, Sustainability and Lifetime Achievement, two more awards have been added this year. The first is the ECM Best Maritime Project Award, reserved for companies or organizations of the sector for the challenges in marine civil and vessels operations. The second is the ECM Young Development Award and consists of a £850 (or equivalent in another currency) scholarship for young students/apprentices/trainees.
Tecnoseal, Tuscan company and one of the world's leader in the production of anodes for cathodic protection in commercial, offshore and leisure boating, will also participate directly this year at SeaWork International through its exclusive distributor All Boat Care.
