Tecnoseal at the 2018 Viareggio Cup
Today, Monday, March 12, 2018 will begin the seventieth edition of the Viareggio Cup, ootball tournament of international importance reserved for youth teams and organized by CGC Viareggio. Tecnoseal will participate in this event as a sponsor and specifically during the traditional gala dinner by invitation.
The tournament will open with the opening oath read by Federico Chiesa, promising Fiorentina striker, and with an inauguration dedicated to the memory of Davide Astori, the young Fiorentina captain and defender who died recently due to a heart attack and who in the past had participated in the competition twice (in 2005 and 2006).
The Viareggio Cup will have the Pini stadium in Viareggio as the main course of the event and will continue until March 28th. It will also be followed by RAI, which will broadcast a total of 17 matches (of which 15 live). Among the participating teams, the presence of an under-19 team directly from China is of great interest, this is only the second time in the history of the tournament with the first ever dating back to 1978.
Following the matches of the first day, the ritual gala dinner will take place at 8:30 pm and the 40 delegations of the participating teams will also take part. The highlight of the evening will be the delivery of the classic CGC Viareggio prizes, five and not four this year, plus seven additional "special prizes". The latter have been added to celebrate the anniversary of seventy years and will reward the more or less prominent figures of the Italian football scene that with their presence have characterized, shaped and helped the Viareggio Cup during its existence.
Among the five "main prizes" we find the 14th CGC award to the sports journalist Loris Luigi Marzocchi, the 29th Gaetano Scirea prize to the coach Luigi di Biagio, the 36th Torquato Bresciani award to the manager Michele Uva and above all the 56th Bruno Roghi award that is for the first time assigned to a woman, the conductor of "90° minuto" and "La Domenica Sportiva" Paola Ferrari.
The heart of Tecnoseal, however, looks to the fifth prize, the one added this year in memory of Luigi Gianneschi, the late owner of Gianneschi Pumps and Blowers S.r.l., historical and innovative company in the nautical sector famous all over the world for its excellent production of pumps for yachts and megayachts, disappeared just under two years ago. The award will be dedicated to the goals of entrepreneurship and will see Claudio Rossi, a well-known entrepreneur in the shipbuilding sector, as the first prize winner.
